What is a CAT 2 Scheme?
It usually has communal facilities and front doors that open onto a communal corridor.
Communal facilities vary from scheme to scheme but usually include a common room and laundry room.
Tenants have their own unit* and independence. There is an intercom/alarm system which is linked to a Control Centre giving 24 hour emergency contact to all tenants.
There is a team of Scheme Managers who work at the schemes on a daily basis, usually during office hours
* A unit may be a bed-sit, flat or bungalow.

The Banks is a sheltered scheme which has 23 flats, five has two bed rooms the rest are one bedroom, there are three floors, ground level, 1st and 2nd; these are accessible by lift and there are stairs at either end of building.
There is a patio area which is located to the side of the scheme leading out to the car park area.
There is a communal laundry room on site which has two washers plus two dryers, drying can be done outside. There are spacious communal areas comprising of a lounge/ dining area plus a large kitchen, which is often used for regular coffee mornings, Thursday lunches, Bingo on a Friday night and other activities through out the year e.g. raising funds for outings, Christmas dinner, etc.
THE HAWTHORNS, LONDON ROAD, LEICESTER LE2 2PL
The Hawthorns is a Sheltered Housing Scheme for over 55’s with 28 1 bed roomed flats. Block A has 12 flats over 3 floors accessed by a lift. Block B has 16 flats over 3 floors accessed by a lift. Each flat had a new kitchen installed in 2008. There is a communal lounge with a dining area, separate communal kitchen and an enclosed garden. There is also a communal laundry with 2 washers and 1 dryer. There are regular coffee mornings, bingo every week and outings during the summer months.
Scheme Manager is on site every morning Mon – Fri. There are pull cords and pendants in every unit and when the Scheme Manager is off site there is a 24 hour response service (Service 24). Service 24 has trained Operators who will respond quickly in the event of an emergency.
The Hawthorns is situated approximately 2 miles from Oadby and 2 miles from Leicester City Centre. There is a regular bus service to Leicester and to Oadby.
MILTON HOUSE, MILTON CRESCENT, LEICESTER LE4 0SX
Milton House is a Sheltered Housing Scheme for over 55’s with 8 1 bedroom flats and 22 bed sits. 1 – 14 are on the ground floor (there is no number 13) and 15 – 31 are on the first floor accessed by a lift. Each unit had a new kitchen installed in 2008. There is a communal lounge with a dining area, separate communal kitchen and an enclosed garden. There is also a communal laundry with 2 washers and 2 dryers although each unit has plumbing for a washing machine. Outings are arranged during summer months and tenants are welcome to meet up for coffee in the lounge.

Caribbean Court is a sheltered housing scheme for over-55s in the Highfields area of Leicester. It has 8 one bedroom flats and two bedits plus communal areas.
There is on-site day care facility, run by the West Indian Senior Citizens Project and the scheme manager is on site every weekday morning.
DOVER HOUSE, DOVER STREET, LEICESTER LE1 6PP
Dover House is a sheltered housing scheme of over-55s, in Leicester City Centre. There are 24 1-bed flats and access to a communal lounge, laundry and garden.
The scheme manager is on site every week day morning.
LEICESTER HOUSE, BRAMCOTE, NOTTINGHAM NG9 3LS
Leicester House is a Sheltered housing scheme which has 33 one bedroom flats. There are two floors accessed by one lift.
A communal lounge with library, games room, dinning area and kitchen.
Regular coffee mornings and bingo sessions are held and several evening functions throughout the year. During the summer months outings are arranged.
There is a member of staff on duty 6 days a week. Most days 6 hours on site from 8 / 8-30am to 2/3pm. Monday to Friday and every 4weeks Sat and Sunday. An on call rota is displayed on the notice board opposite the scheme managers office. There are pull cords in every room and a 24 hour response service.
There is a communal Laundry with 2 washing machines and 2 driers
There is a rota system for using these which gives all tenants ample time to do their laundry.
POLLARD COURT, BEESTON, NOTTS NG9 2PA
Pollard Court is a Cat 1 scheme with 37 self contained one bedroom flats. A number of these are designed for disabled with larger bathrooms and either walk in showers or wet rooms. Also the scheme comprises of larger hallways for wheel chair access, communal lounge and kitchen. Other facilities at Pollard Court includes communal laundry room and drying area, guest suite, scooter room. There is a full time warden and a 24 hour emergency call out service.
LAYTON BURROUGHS, MANSFIELD NG18 5PY
Layton Burroughs is a sheltered scheme in the heart of Layton Burroughs housing estate, near Mansfield town centre.
It has 22 properties, consisting of studios and 1- and 2- bedroomed flats. There is access to a communal areas and a garden.
There is a scheme manager who is on site every week day.
