Stepping towards independence
Situated in Eastwood, to the west of Nottingham, Stepping Stones provides good quality accommodation, and friendly, professional support for homeless young people, aged 16-25.
By providing on-site training, advice and support, plus a home, the scheme helps young people gain the confidence and skills they need to live more independently in the future.
If you are aged 16–25, single, and either homeless or living in unsatisfactory conditions, you can apply directly for a place at Stepping Stones. The project also considers applications from people referred through social services or other local agencies.
The only condition for living at the scheme is that you are prepared to help yourself by working alongside staff to develop new skills allowing you to live more independently in the future.
Residents can stay at Stepping Stones for up to two years.
A friendly environment
All Stepping Stones residents enjoy their own private bedrooms and are free to come and go as they please. Communal facilities such as a shared kitchen and common room provide the ideal environment for you to meet and make new friends with other young people living at the scheme.
All residents pay a small minimum fee to live at the scheme. Beyond this the level of rent they pay is dependent upon whether you are entitled to housing benefit and how much you earn.
“Living here is great. All the residents have a great laugh together, and the staff are always there for you if you are feeling alone or hurt.” - A Stepping Stones resident
