Kirton Lodge comprises of 19 self contained flats, a laundry facility, a communal lounge, a pay phone for service users, an art room, a computer room and a garden area. The flats are 1 or 2 bedrooms with a lounge, bathroom and kitchen which are furnished.
Kirton Lodge is funded through Supporting People which funds housing related support services. This is a central government fund which is administered and monitored by the Local Authority.
The project criterion is women and children who are homeless and / or escaping domestic violence. Women who are in the third trimester of their pregnancy will also be accepted. Referrals are taken from the Local Authority Housing Options, Social Care and Health, other agencies and self referrals.
The service at the project assists and enables the Local Authority to fulfil their duty under homeless legislation and supports Social Care and Health with safeguarding.
The project works closely with Service Users on a one to one via a key-working system where we offer support to enable families to secure permanent accommodation and to live independently in the community. Whilst at Kirton Lodge service users attend meetings where they discuss issues, review policies and make suggestions for activities and trips.
