Compass

The Compass Project enables around 21 people with mental health needs to live independent and fulfilling lives in their own homes around Leicester.

The scheme is funded through Leicester City Primary Care Trust and Supporting People.

It provides people with enduring mental health problems moving from in-patient care with appropriate, ordinary, affordable, good quality, supportive housing, in an environment where local social and recreational amenities are easily accessible.

We aim to empower people with enduring mental health problems, to achieve and maintain control over their own lives in an environment which promotes participation within, and contribution to, the local community. We negotiate with each service user in shaping a comprehensive support package tailored to his or her individual needs and potential.

We work in close partnership with them and all other agencies involved in their continuing care, in order to maximise personal growth, choice, independence, and responsibility.

We aim to enhance individual dignity and self-esteem by:

·  supporting the development of practical, financial and social skills
·  encouraging existing and potential personal relationships
.
upholding psychological, emotional and spiritual development, and
·  Encouraging the pursuit of educational and employment
   opportunities.
