Compass Finds Route To Success Through Partnership

LHA Compass AwardA project to help Leicester people who have complex mental health problems has received a top award from the NHS.

Compass, run by LHA Support Services, works with the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust’s Assertive Outreach Team (LPT) to provide housing, support and health care for 20 people.

Both teams were jointly given the Celebration of Achievement Partnership award at the Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust’s annual ceremony.

The organisations work very closely to ensure all agencies are aware of their clients’ circumstances so they can receive the best possible care and support.

Compass, which has six members of staff, provides housing and support for people with mental health problems while the outreach team provides health care. The teams have been working together for four years.

Deborah Curtis, Compass Manager, said: “Frequently, it can be challenging to engage the people we aim to help. To ensure Compass is able to support our clients to live independently, we need to work together and involve all the necessary agencies.

Working in partnership allows us to share information, resources and training to develop innovative ways of working which mean we can make a greater difference to the people we want to help.”

Bridget Marsden, a Senior Practitioner at LPT, said: “We are delighted to have won this award and are very pleased that our achievements have been recognised in this way.

“We have worked hard to develop a strong, collaborative relationship with Compass and will continue to look at ways in which we can develop and improve it.”

Constant communication and monthly meetings between the teams mean the quality of the service is constantly monitored.
